We do not provide hydrants for fire protection. All hydrants and flush valves including those that are painted black are for the operation and maintenance of the distribution system. The hydrants and valves are locked to prevent unauthorized use of water and damage to the system by pumping directly from the valves. Keys have been provided to area fire departments and may be used by them for refill purposes only.
